According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Construction industry has seen the largest growth (38%) in jobs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the past five years.
Reconciliation in Construction industry should not be embraced as part of a contractual and legal requirement and in order to effectively address the issues associated with Reconciliation and Indigenous engagement, there is a requirement for flexibility and adaption of existing protocols and processes to better suit the cultural differences that arise with interactions between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples.

The Reconciliation in Construction panel discussion will tackle topics such as:

  • How to increase Aboriginal skills and economic participation?
  • How to broaden their opportunities in the industry?
  • How to support strong Aboriginal communities through education, apprenticeships and employment?
  • How to increase the number of Aboriginal-owned businesses in building & construction industry?
