PANEL: Re-thinking How We Specify for a Regenerative Future
In the face of accelerating climate urgency and material scarcity, the way we specify products can no longer be complacent or legacy-driven. Architects and designers make product choices every day—but how often do we understand the consequences? Regenerative design challenges us to go beyond sustainability and actively contribute to the health of ecosystems, communities, and future generations. This starts with re-evaluating materials—prioritising transparency, circularity, and long-term impact over short-term drivers. As mandatory ESG reporting increases, governments push for circular procurement, and smart businesses use sustainability to drive growth, the need for product transparency is skyrocketing. Collaboration is key. Architects and designers, suppliers, certifiers, and procurement leaders are working together, building frameworks, tools, and certifications to accelerate progress toward a more circular and sustainable built environment.
