Esther Dickins
Esther is a registered Landscape Architect and Urban Designer with 25 years professional experience. Her dual qualifications in Landscape Architecture and Architecture enable a broad contribution across the built form and landscape domains, demonstrated through experience ranging in scale from strategic master planning to detailed design and construction. Esther enjoys thinking at a strategic level and one of her strengths is understanding how strategic decisions practically play out in the ground. Esther possesses demonstrated analytical, problem solving and organisational skills that can be seen through her experience in managing many complex, large scale landscape and urban design projects. These required strategic thinking in the design and planning of large-scale developments with consideration to physical, environmental and economic constraints, negotiation between authorities, private developers and large teams of expert consultants. Esther believes in a highly integrated approach to design and planning as, in her experience, it creates richer more successful projects. She enjoys working closely with a wide range of clients, professionals, authorities, stakeholders and communities. Esther holds considerable experience in stakeholder and community consultation and the integration of stakeholder views into the design and planning process. Recently, Esther has been focused on building relationships with First Communities, to enhance the process of Connection to Country through projects and arranging industry events. Esther believes deeply in the value of diversity, equity and inclusion and sustainability, working to make change in the industry through her roles in the ULI Women’s Leadership Initiative, Scott Carver’s Sustainability Transformation Group, Culture and Diversity Committee and RAP Working Group.
