Gretchen has served as a non-executive director on numerous boards, and is currently Chairperson of Brinkman Construction (US) and Director, International Women's Foundation (AUS). She is a member of the National Academy of Construction (US).

Gretchen is passionate about leveraging her success in the construction industry to help all women thrive. She partners with organizations to think strategically about diversity, equity, and inclusion; leads programs on leadership and networking; and coaches women to success.

Gretchen is a strategic advisor and change agent in the construction industry, consulting to owners/clients to support the cost-effective planning, design, and construction of capital assets; and consulting to contractors, engineering firms, and material and equipment suppliers on how to effectively serve these clients and achieve organisational success. Owner clients include Intel, Marriott, Hewlett Packard, Procter & Gamble, United Airlines, General Motors, Starbucks, and Detroit Edison; and engineering/contractor clients include WSP, Black & Veatch, Miller Pipeline, Barton Malow Company and DPR Construction.

As an Affiliate Professor at the Australian National University and the University of Denver, Gretchen develops course and lectures on leadership and ethics, change and agility, strategic human resource management, evidence-based management and team performance. Gretchen's PhD dissertation research explored the relationship between leader behaviours and organisation agility.
