Dr. Javad Hashemi is an Associate Professor of Structural Engineering and the Deputy Director of the $15 million Smart Structures Laboratory at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. He is a Chartered Member of Engineers Australia and the National Engineering Register (CPEng NER). He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from Sharif University of Technology in Iran, and a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA. Javad’s research focuses on resilient and sustainable structures and infrastructure, where he has made significant contributions across various industries. 

Javad is particularly passionate about advancing large-scale experimental testing and computational modelling for engineering structures in the context of extreme dynamic events. His work extends to promoting the integration of automation, prefabrication, and modularization in modern construction practices, shaping the way structures are designed, built, and tested to withstand the challenges of tomorrow.
