From an early age, I was surrounded by my father's passion for natural products from South East Asia. He saw their potential in the Australian climate and lifestyle and believed in supporting small, rural villages to become self-sufficient communities. In 1972, he founded House of Bamboo as a hobby, sourcing products from these very same villages and showcasing them in our family home. As I studied architecture, I too was drawn to the beauty and versatility of bamboo. Its untapped potential was a game changer for the building industry, and I knew I had to be a part of it. That's why I joined the family business and eventually took on the role of CEO. At House of Bamboo, I have dedicated my career to pushing the boundaries of what bamboo can do. Bamboo has a short harvest cycle of just 5-7 years, produces 35% more oxygen, and stores four times more carbon than trees. With my technical understanding and design sense, I have developed a range of engineered bamboo products that truly outperform traditional timber. But my passion for sustainability extends far beyond just the products we create at House of Bamboo. I am dedicated to promoting sustainable construction practices and making bamboo the new timber. I also advocate for bamboo projects and support land regeneration and reforestation throughout Australia, always striving to make a positive impact on our environment and improve biodiversity. House of Bamboo is more than just a business; it's a calling. By choosing bamboo, we can make a difference in our world and leave a lasting legacy. I am proud to be a part of this mission to facilitate the choice of elegant and sustainable design solutions and make a positive impact on the world, one choice at a time.
