Sydney Build Green Building Council Australia LogoAs the Head of Market Transformation, Jorge ensures that GBCA’s strategic priorities, partnerships, and product and services, including Green Star, accelerate the transformation of Australia’s built environment – delivering healthier, more resilient, and positive places for people and nature.. He chairs WorldGBC’s Global Commitment for Net Zero Carbon Buildings Taskforce, a member of its Better Places for People Steering Committee, and its Circular Economy Accelerator program.. He is also a member of Climate Bond Initiative’s Low Carbon Buildings Technical Working Group, GRESB’s Real Estate Standards Committee, Carbon Risk Real Estate Monitor’s Global Industry Committee and an observer at the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative’s Mobilising Capital working group. He is also a Board Director at GreenFleet. He’s co-authored GBCA's ‘A Climate Positive Roadmap’ for buildings and precincts, which set out targets to decarbonise the built environment as well as ‘Building with Nature’, which set out a path to bring nature back into our cities, ‘Resilience in the built environment’, a primer on the topic, and ‘A Practical Guide to Electrification’ for new buildings and existing buildings.. He’s also been part of WorldGBC’s ‘From Thousands to Billions: Coordinated Action towards 100% Net Zero Carbon Buildings by 2050’ and ‘Bringing embodied carbon upfront’ a groundbreaking call to action for reducing our carbon emissions from construction and materials. His expertise includes sustainable buildings and communities, life cycle assessment, adaptation and resilience, social equity, economic resilience, financing of green outcomes, and health and wellbeing in the built environment. He has an architecture degree from the University of Monterrey in Mexico and a Masters in Design Science from the University of Sydney.
