Trent Clark is a Sydney builder, with 20+ years’ experience in residential new builds and renovations ever evolving his skills leading him to Passive House. Adopting the principles early has meant he is now an industry leader. 

Trent and his company, Red Cedar Constructions, built Sydney’s very first accredited passive house, in 2018, and expects to be building nothing but Passive Homes from 2025. Trent, who is a certified Passive House Tradesperson, is proud to be playing a role in helping passive houses gain increasing public recognition.

Trent is so passionate about Passive Houses – “it's simple engineering at its best; it's ability to create an environment that is completely separate of the outside conditions means it’s just better for the occupant.” It is not only comfortable but it is a healthy home for the home wner and a y-product is that it’s sustainable and cost-efficient especially when compared to the standard residential housing being built in Sydney. 

Trent has been working in the construction industry since 1999 and founded Red Cedar Constructions in 2004. While he still likes “to swing a hammer on Saturdays with his team,” these days his main tasks are business development, marketing, estimating, tendering, client liaison and management.

Trent continues to be challenged by the vagaries of the construction industry, from managing weather and deadlines to contractors and cashflow. What keeps him motivated is his love of building and helping clients turn their dreams into reality. Despite his decades of industry experience, Trent still derives enormous pride from taking over a tired home, transforming it, and then handing it back a tested and accredited home to its delighted owners.
